Maggie’s Organics embodies fair trade principles with our new Knapsack Project by supporting small family farming communities and finding ways to develop additional incomes. Women in the farming communities in Tanzania Africa, with the assistance of the bioRe® Foundation, have set-up sewing centers to sew and repair the bags for Organic Cotton harvesters. This is the same Organic Cotton found in our socks! Maggie’s is collaborating with the women, using their talent and expertise, to create functional new knapsacks made from traditional Tanzanian prints (not from organic cotton) and by providing a market for new products. $12 from the purchase of each bag goes back to these communities, providing more income sources for small family farmers.

REAL FAIR TRADE
Direct contracts with each of our producers, pre-payments for seed deposits, support of small family mills and worker-owned cooperatives; since our founding, Maggie’s has walked the talk of Real Fair Trade.
For over 27 years, Maggie’s has been committed to the fair treatment of workers while making accessories and clothing from Organic fibers.
Meet the producers in our supply chain and hear their stories; take comfort in complete disclosure of contents and organic certificates for each of Maggie’s products.
